What is a Zost?
Everyone's familiar with a jam session.
During these events, musicians gather, spend about 5 minutes agreeing on a song they all (hopefully) know, and then the music begins! This approach means musicians need to get on stage quickly to secure their spot and must have a wide repertoire before participating.
Consequently, these sessions are mainly suited for skilled amateurs or (semi-)professional musicians.
But where to begin?
That's where the Zost comes in!
The Zost introduces a fresh take on the traditional jam session, incorporating three unique elements:
-
Accessibility: Amateur musicians receive the song title before the performance day. This gives them time to master the piece beforehand—like getting the exam questions before the test 😄.
-
Structure: The day is divided into three sets, allowing musicians to build confidence across different disciplines.
-
A2A (Amateur to Amateur): The gig is organized by amateurs, for amateurs. After all, who understands the struggles of an amateur better than another amateur?
So, forget "Let's go to the jam" — it's now "Let's go to the Zost!"
